Judgment Will Come — Sermon Recap

This week's message took us deep into Revelation 20, a passage that calls every one of us to consider where we stand before a holy and righteous God — and to find our confidence not in ourselves, but in the finished work of Jesus Christ.

Summary: The sermon explored the millennial reign of Christ as described in Revelation 20, examining the binding of Satan, the resurrection of the saints, and the final judgment at the great white throne. Drawing from a premillennial perspective and grounded in a literal reading of Scripture, the message traced God's sovereign plan from the thousand-year reign of Christ on earth all the way to the eternal state. More than a theological overview, this message was a call to personal reflection — urging each of us to examine whether our trust is in our own deeds or in the grace of Jesus Christ alone. The implications for our spiritual life are clear: how we live now matters, the gospel must be shared urgently, and our eternal hope rests entirely on what Christ has done for us.

Takeaways:

  • Satan is a defeated enemy. Though he is active in the world today, Scripture makes clear that his ultimate fate is sealed. He will be bound during Christ's thousand-year reign and ultimately thrown into the lake of fire forever. Because of the blood of Jesus, we do not need to live in fear of him today.
  • There are two distinct judgments, and it matters which one you face. Believers will stand at the judgment seat of Christ, covered by His righteousness, while unbelievers will face the great white throne judgment and be judged by their deeds alone. Our salvation is not earned by works but received by grace through faith, as Paul makes clear in Ephesians 2:8-9, which teaches that salvation is entirely a gift of God, not the result of human effort.
  • Today is the day of salvation. The certainty of coming judgment is not meant to produce fear in the hearts of believers, but urgency in the hearts of all people. If you know Christ, let this truth motivate you to share the gospel. If you do not yet know Him, do not delay in placing your trust in Jesus, whose sacrifice on the cross is the only basis on which any of us can stand before God.

As we carry this message with us through the week, may it drive us to our knees in gratitude and to our feet in mission. We are not our own judges, and we are not the judges of others — but we are called to point people to the One who is. Let the reality of eternity shape the way you pray, the way you speak, and the way you love those around you who have not yet trusted Christ.
